How To Get Involved

Alumni can stay involved in many ways, including becoming a:
Resident Advisor during YoungArts Week Each January up to 150 finalists are invited to participate in a week-long all-expenses-paid trip to Miami. Throughout the years we have turned to our alumni to serve as Resident Advisors. Having experienced YoungArts Week yourself, you can help us continue to create a once in a lifetime experience for these 17- and 18-year-old artists. Resident Advisor Application
Discipline Coordinator during November Adjudications and YoungArts Week Final Adjudications In November, the process of selecting YoungArts winners begins as judges from around the nation gather in Miami to review the thousands of submissions received for that year’s program. During this crucial time, YoungArts recruits nine individuals, one for each artistic discipline, to serve as a Discipline Coordinator. The role of a Discipline Coordinator is to serve as the liaison between the judges and staff. After the adjudication process is complete and the winners are chosen, the Discipline Coordinators then return to Miami during YoungArts Week in January. In Miami they once again serve as the critical link between the panelists who review the finalists and YoungArts.
Mentor Alumni Mentors can make a difference in several ways: reaching out to recent finalists as peers, giving them advice and making lasting connections and getting involved with regional programs and special events. Mentor Application
Participate in our Alumni Association The Association is looking for individuals who are willing to serve in a leadership capacity, as well as alumni who are willing to help assist in sharing fellowship and internship opportunities for fellow alumni, serve as mentors, volunteer and speak on behalf of YoungArts on panels and at seminars and workshops, be willing to host a career preparation session for recent alumni or reconnect with their class or alumni in an area by hosting a gathering at your home or studio.
Perform at YoungArts Events YoungArts alumni are a true testament to the important role that the organization plays in the arts in America. Throughout the year YoungArts has many different events at which our alumni are invited to perform. These events range from small gatherings to our annual An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala. We always are interested in exposing our Board Members, donors and supporters to the talent of our alumni.
Assist with a school visit As a YoungArts alumni you are the most effective representatives of our program. By visiting high schools in your area and explaining our program to prospective participants, you can be the inspiration for young artists to apply to YoungArts. With your help, we can ensure that YoungArts continues to grow into the premier arts organization in the nation.
List us on your bio You can help us make YoungArts awards a nationally recognized honor by listing your award in your bio and resume. The more that we can get the word out about YoungArts and how many young artists’ lives it has affected, the more we will become embedded in contemporary American culture.
And stay in touch Your success is, truly, our success! Your accomplishments not only help us promote YoungArts, they can inspire hundreds of other young artists and build support for YoungArts programs. Please keep us updated by sending your most current bio, resume and happenings to the Manager of Alumni Relations at alumni@youngarts.org.
